Sometimes grief isn't about missing someone.
A mother is dead.
Her three estranged children gather beneath a curtain of fog and rain to bury the woman who spent her life choosing distance, silence, and survival.
The only others in attendance: an unkindness of ravens and a bastard stepfather.
There are no flowers. No comforting lies.
Only a casket, a mound of earth, and everything left unsaid.
